The production team of Netflix's original entertainment show "Black and White Cook: The War of the Cooking Class" that caused the syndrome has revealed the back story of the show.

The Black and White Chef' is a class war of 100 people in which a black spoon (anonymous) chef, who is considered to have the best taste, challenged the best star chef, Baek Su-jeo (famous). Since its release on the 17th of last month, it has topped Netflix's global top 10 TV (non-English) category for three consecutive weeks. It's the first Korean entertainment show on Netflix. From the 30th of last month to the 6th of this month, the cumulative number of viewers recorded 4 million (the value of the viewing time divided by the total running time of the work). It was ranked in the top 10 in 18 countries, including Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan.

Thanks to this popularity, news broke today (15th) that "Black and White Chef" has confirmed the production of season 2. Among them, we met with PD Kim Hak-min, PD Kim Eun-ji, and writer Mo In-seol, who planned and directed the program, and heard their feelings about the popularity of season 1, the behind-the-scenes story of production, and their determination for season 2.

First of all, PD Kim Hak-min said, "When I asked what I wanted to hear the most from this program when I first planned it, I wanted to hear 'Propose Season 2 quickly', but I'm grateful that it became a reality." Producer Kim Eun-ji said, "There was no reason to delay the decision to produce season 2. I think Netflix and the production team are united in one sense every day," he said.

Writer Seol, who gathered on the popularity of overseas, said, "We expected that there would be some reaction in Korea as there are 100 representative chefs in Korea. However, I didn't expect much from overseas responses. When I first opened it, I was excited because the domestic response was so favorable that I wondered if I was writing a comment part-time job. The global response came out a week later, so I was nervous, but fortunately, Global also ranked first. I think it was a box office hit because there was a structure and attraction different from the existing cooking program," he said.

Interest in the lineup is already hot on the news of season 2, and writer Mo drew attention by saying, "We are also in contact with Gordon Ramsay." When the reporters said, "There is a reaction that Edward Lee should come out in season 1, and Gordon Ramsay should come out in season 2," he hinted, "I contacted Gordon Ramsay Korea as soon as season 2 was confirmed."

Producer Kim Eun-ji expressed confidence, saying, "There are so many cooking talents in Korea, so you don't have to worry about the season 2 lineup." Producer Kim Hak-min also said, "I've been receiving e-mails from when the production of season 2 has not been announced yet. It's a fascinating feeling. I look forward to your support."

"In the case of Edward Lee, he was the winner of 'Iron Chef' and had a state dinner at the White House, so I thought there was no way he would participate," said writer Mo. I tried to send an e-mail to the youngest producer with the mindset that I have to lose, but at first there was no answer. Afterwards, he said that he wanted to talk to him once, so when he finally said he would appear after a video meeting, all of the production team cheered.

Behind the hot popularity of "The Black and White Chef" were scenes like never before. Especially, the Jongwon Baek of eating food while wearing an eye patch is still a famous scene that is talked about. Producer Kim Hak-min said, "The idea was to make a picture that never happened before. I thought the strongest scene in this program would be the eye patch scene. "Who would have imagined wearing an eye patch on the Jongwon Baek teacher?" he recalled. Author Mo also added, "I thought it would be a signature of our program, so I tried to catch the eyes of viewers by placing blind screening in the front."

Referring to Chef Jung Ji-sun's "Paras," which is considered another famous scene, PD Kim Eun-ji said, "I thought it would be a meme even at the time of filming. The filming staff was surprised, he said, adding, "I didn't expect to evaluate it as sexy."

A new cooking survival was planned, but a Jongwon Baek familiar to the public appeared as a judge. Regarding the background, PD Kim Hak-min said, "Jongwon Baek has been on a lot of cooking programs, but it's been a long time since he was judged. There were many concerns, and I thought he was a person who had the ability to surpass it. I thought there was no one who knew and experienced as many ingredients as him, so I had higher expectations."

Producer Kim Eun-ji revealed an anecdote when she first met chef Ahn Sung-jae. He said, "I went to the parameters and had a meeting, and they were taller and bigger than I thought, so there was an aura. When he said, "We will bring together Korean talented people," and that there was a fear that he could not accept it because he was proud of himself and was proud of cooking, Chef Ahn Sung-jae said, "No one in Korea would object when I judged," and the production team was persuaded. I was fascinated by that one word," he recalled.

There is no part that has been criticized by viewers as much as the popularity. Participants competed in cooking skills by performing various missions in the program, which consists of a total of six rounds. Writer Mo said, "Just as judge Ahn Sung-jae asked about the intention of cooking, we also arranged every mission with intention. "We expected the variables that could occur and arranged them differently every round," he explained.

However, in the case of the restaurant mission, where the chefs suddenly released one team member and the released chefs formed a new team to compete, there was an evaluation that the fairness was disappointing. Even if they knew the strategy of the existing team, they were inferior to other teams in terms of time and personnel composition. Producer Kim Hak-min said, "It's not limited to restaurant missions, but the participants responded that the missions were a little easier for them. For example, since they are all professionals, it was a mission that could have gone a little harder, but there was also a saying that it was relatively easy," he said, adding that it was a device for a new challenge.

However, the production team is checking all the viewers' evaluations, and emphasized that it will save favorable reviews and supplement criticism. Author Mo said, "I saw that there was a reason why the cooking show was away from the audience's attention, and I tried to add newness to attract that attention. Our production team has seen and shared all the comments and reactions, so I think we can supplement a lot in Season 2." Producer Kim Eun-ji said, "The genre changes for each round. There is a side that I organized like that because I wanted to give you a variety of fun, but now I'm getting feedback. I can't give you a definite answer yet, but the viewers' inconvenience will be improved," he said.
They also answered questions about the whereabouts of the remaining ingredients after cooking
. Author Mo said, "We prepared by checking how many ingredients would be appropriate for those who ask themselves in the 100-serve cooking mission," and PD Kim Eun-ji said, "Nevertheless, it was impossible to predict how much it would be used." However, it was practically difficult to prepare for infinity, so I tried to balance it," he explained. Producer Kim Hak-min added, "We thought about minimizing the remaining food ingredients, and we had livestock and fisheries processors at the site and divided everything that was left and the production team took it." After the release of

{Black and White Cook}, parody videos poured out online, and the restaurant industry was rocking, with the restaurant reservation rate of performers soaring.

Author Mo said, "Survival programs often have only one winner in the spotlight and become 'other than the winner', and our program is good because those who failed to get popular and supported." The reason I invited 100 chefs was because I wanted to show such diverse and different sides. I think I was most happy to be able to receive attention from various people in each round and become the main character," he welcomed. Producer Kim Hak-min also said, "There are so many scenes I want to show you as much as you love me a lot, but it was difficult because I couldn't capture everything in 60 minutes."

Finally, writer Mo said, "I thought it should be different from the existing cooking survival, so I divided black and white, but I think the viewers were purely enthusiastic about the sincerity of the people who are crazy about cooking. The black spoon has respect for the white spoon, and the white spoon has a feeling of 'I was like that' while watching the black spoon. After the match, I saw him admit the result, support each other, and leave the kitchen, and I thought he liked it unlike other survival games, and I will keep the stance and produce it in Season 2."
