Director Yeon Sang-ho, who directed "Hell" and "Gisaengsoo: The Gray" and worked with Netflix one after another as a producer of "Seonsan," expressed his feelings.

Park Hyatt Busan, Haeundae-gu, Busan, where the 29th Busan International Film Festival will be held on the afternoon of the 4th, held the "Next on Netflix: 2025 Korean Film" event, which will look back on Netflix Korean films this year and pre-show public works in 2025.

Director Kim Tae-won of the content team, who is in charge of films and series at Netflix's Seoul Office, as well as director Yeon Sang-ho, director Nam Goong-sun, director Byeon Sung-hyun, director Kim Byung-woo, director Lee Tae-sung, director Han Ji-won and director Kim Tae-joon participated in the event to share stories about the next film and discuss the vision of Korean films.

Director Yeon Sang-ho had already worked with Netflix three times as a producer of "Hell" and "Parasite: The Gray" and "Seonsan," and once again joined hands with Netflix through the movie "Gye Si-rok." Therefore, director Yeon Sang-ho is jokingly saying that he has signed an exclusive contract with Netflix from the term "Netflix Civil Servant."

In response, director Yeon said, "I don't have an exclusive contract with Netflix at all. Each work is planned with the mindset of 'Isn't this the last time?' and smiled. He added, "Somehow, I ended up doing Netflix works one after another, and of course, there are movies for theaters."

There was also a story about the "Gyeshilok" that he will present this time.

Director Yeon Sang-ho said, "I made my debut in an indie animation and started doing live-action films through Train to Busan." Since then, I've been doing a lot of CG-rich works, such as Kritzer, and I thought I wanted to try a movie that rarely uses CG, and "Gyeshilok" will be the first work, signaling a transformation like never before.

In particular, he said, "We have minimized CG as well as the makeup of actors. In the case of the sunrise scene, I actually filmed it by waiting for that time, he said, adding, "I worked with the desire to do something cinematic, and I'm working with the idea of what a movie made in a cinematic way on Netflix will look like and how the audience will watch it."

Director Yeon's new challenge, "Gye Si-rok," is a story about a pastor who believes that it is God's revelation to condemn the culprit of the disappearance case and a detective in charge of a missing case who suffers from the welcome of his dead brother, chasing their respective beliefs, and starring Ryu Jun-yeol and Shin Hyun-bin.

Director Yeon learns that actor Ryu Jun-yeol perfectly embodies each and every line and tries to say it, and actor Shin Hyun-bin has a serious and immersive attitude toward the work. I tried to capture the real emotions of the two actors," he said, expressing his satisfaction with the two actors and raising curiosity about the work.
